Serra de sa Rateta
To be able to do this walk as it is explained here you should ask the owner of the Comasema estate for permission to cross it, as a large part of the route passes through its magnificent land and they don't let walkers pass unless they have asked in advance. By indication of the owner of Comasema, we will leave the vehicles at Orient and take the first road on the right coming out of Orient towards Bunyola. This tarmac road gets a bit boring, so it's a good thing that we enjoy excellent views, above all to the left, of the Serra Alfàbia, Es Coll des Jous and Son Vidal. Gradually we approach the Comasema property. The house dominates a large part of the Orient valley and is guarded by the Serra de sa Rateta to the west and Puig d'Amòs to the east. To pass the property, a new path takes us up to the left and, once we have passed the buildings, brings us back to the main path. After the property, another valley surprises us and we skirt it. A little while after passing the houses, we see to the left a sign to "Es Barrancons - L'Ofre". This is where we will come down at the end of the walk. Now we follow the main path. At the end of the valley, the path climbs up Coll des Bosc. When we get to the top, we leave the wood behind and see a mountain landscape.
On reaching this hill, a small path descends beside L'Ofre, gently and towards the right. After descending for a while, we cross a flat, uncultivated area and the marks point us downhill for the first time to the right until we reach a charming spring, Sa Font de s'Hortet. From here we take a wide path going down, leaving it at the first bend for a small path off to the right, which we also leave after a few metres for one descending to the left. Now we can't go wrong. We will arrive at a narrow opening in a wall, pass through it, and we are on the Barracons path descending towards Comasema, where we can't get lost because of the painted marks. It is a steep descent offering views of the north-eastern end of the Orient valley and Comasema. We join the path we have come up on this morning and return to Orient. ALTERNATIVE: Instead of going via Orient, we can go from Cúber (on the map the route is marked with a broken line) to Coll des Bosc and come back turning round at L'Ofre and coming down the Binimorat path. In this case, there is no need to ask for permission anywhere. .
