Orient- Sta Maria

Leaving the hotel, follow the street in the direction of Orient. After passing through the village, there is a large water deposit on the left side. There, on the right side you will find an iron gate with a chain. Enter the gate and, passing the fruit plantation, walk just up to the edge of the woods. Go through another gate and you will find a huge holm oak tree. Carry on walking along the path to the right. After approx 20 minutes of walking uphill you will reach the pass and will be rewarded with a beatiful view to Orient. From there you carry on downwards following the path which is irregularly marked. At a barely recognisable fork in the path you will enter a wider path extending from Sta Maria to the waterfalls of el Freus and later to the road to Orient. Turn left and follow the way downwards alongside the gorge. In places, you will be well rewarded with a great view.

Walking further down the main path you will soon reach the bottom of the valley. From there the path gets wider again and you will pass several fincas. You will have to walk round one of them taking a path to the left. Carry on along the narrow highway in the direction to Sta Maria walking through this lovely valley. During the last hour you hike along the asphalted roads towards Sta Maria.

For a shorter walk, I recommend walking only for the first 30 minutes of this route and then turning round to come back the same way.
